Although only lightly shown, Summer certainly had a
great show career. She is from our Mirribandi M Litter. We were so impressed with what "Harley"
produced with "Gem" for the Mirribandi K
Litter, that Harley was the
obvious choice for our next dream litter….. and along came Midsumer Dream!!!
Summer was proudly owned in partnership
with us at Mirribandi and Cliff and Irene McConnell, Cloudhaven Kennels, in
Rockhampton, Qld.
We were thrilled that Summer was placed
second in the Baby Bitch Class at the '99 NSW Belgian Specialty, following
closely in her sister's footsteps (Mirribandi Morgannah won Baby In Show!!!).
After several BABY IN GROUP wins,
Summer's show career came to a screeching halt. Tragedy stuck as Summer
suffered a fall and broke her hip at 3 and a half months of age.
After 12
months rest and recuperation, Summer was back in the show ring, winning
Challenges, Best of Breeds, and many CLASS IN GROUPS!!! Not even a broken hip
could hold her back from fulfilling her destiny of a long and successful show
career!!!
Summer won 1st Junior Bitch Class and RESERVE CC at the August 2000
Summer won RESERVE CC and Intermediate of Breed
at the June 2001 Inaugural Belgian Specialty Championship Show in
Summer won CHALLENGE BITCH and BEST OPPOSITE SEX OF BREED at the August 2001
Summer won BEST EXHIBIT IN GROUP at the Mt Morgan/Boldercombe Championship Show, Sept
2001.
At her first Interstate Belgian Specialty, Summer won
RESERVE CC at the Illawarra Belgian Specialty, Oct 2001, closely
followed by her win under Mr Benoit Thevenon (France), Nov 2001, where she was
placed 3rd in the Open
Bitch Class - beating the three
times RUBIS winning import.

medium sized, well carried. Excellent eye. Excellently put together, good
proportions. Excellent topline, correct croup. Excellent chest. Excellent

Narrow at back when she moves. Parallel at the front. Very good movement. EXCELLENT"

Summer is the dam of the VERNDAEL B
litter, also bred in partnership with Cloudhaven kennels. These puppies are all happy family pets,
devoted to their careers as family members.
Summer lived all her life with the
McConnell family, and was put to sleep with Stomach Cancer in January
2008. She will be sadly missed by all
who knew her and especially by us at Mirribandi, and by her beloved McConnell
family at Cloudhaven. Another shiny new
star shines bright in the night sky. We
