Finish off the highest corro ceiling. – DONE FEB 2007
Painting the plaster walls. – COMPLETED MAY 2007.
Finish laying, sanding & sealing the sandstone floors. – COMPLETED MARCH 2007
Sand and oil timber floor upstairs, and staircase – COMPLETED MAY 2007
Cornices and final touch timberworks – COMPLETED APRIL 2007
Oiling the weatherboards, poles and other timbers – maybe a 2008-2009 job!
Fit the recycled timber French doors. – COMPLETED JAN/FEB 2007
Make the barn doors for the bathroom, toilet and bedrooms – plans changed and a job lot of solid doors were purchased and hung two days before moving in JUNE 2007.
Fit out the kitchen appliances – HOT PLATES FITTED MAY 2007 – PROBLEMS WITH VENTING OVEN CAUSING DELAYS, NOT TO MENTION GAS PLUMBERS INSTALLING PIPES IN WRONG PLACE 12 MONTHS AGO…..COMPLETE JUNE 2007
Fit out the bathrooms – toilets & vanities fitted MAY 2007 – still to fit towel rails & loo roll holders – COMPLETED JUNE 2007
Tile the bathroom walls. – COMPLETED JANUARY 2007
Hang remaining light fittings, and turn on the power, hook up the phone – COMPLETED MAY 2007
The plumbers will be back to hook up the water and gas for cooking. WATER COMPLETE APRIL 2007, GAS 50% CONNECTED MAY 2007 100% JUNE 2007
Install safety rails around top level room and viewing platform – COMPLETE MID 2007.
And the glass man will fit glass into
the French doors, the upper dormer windows, and the glass splash backs in the
kitchen. – FRENCH DOOR GLASS COMPLETE, SPLASH BACK HALF COMPLETE, AND SHOWER
SCREEN ORDERED. PROBLEM WITH NOT BEING
ABLE TO LOCATE ANY MANURFACTURES TO MAKE THE ODD SHAPED HIGH SET WINDOWS – THIS

Move in! COMPLETED JUNE 2007
DECEMBER 2007 UPDATE We have now been in our
house for 6 months. We moved in the
evening before being descended upon by our interstate guests for the Qld
Specialty Show in June. It was a mad
rush to be in the house on time – but we made it! Since then, we have been finishing off bits
and pieces around the house, and days before Christmas we finally got around to
hanging all our prints and pictures on the walls. It looks like a home now! We had the family over for Christmas lunch –
which went off well, despite a few hiccups early in the preparations.
