This page would not be here if it were not for two friends.
One Marjie Bloy of England cajoling,
needling, encouraging and saying/showing how easy it is, and the other
Anne Woodley
of New Zealand who actually designed a site and put it up for us PROVING how easy it was. We provided the information - Anne put it into code. The fact that three countries can
be involved in fixing up a site in Australia, just proves how quickly the use of the Internet has spread worldwide.
Now we have taken over the site, and any broken links, or general muck-ups are ours and not Anne's! Our site is located on our server Global Info Links, an initiative of the Ipswich City Council, Queensland - the Smart city, where we have lived for more than 20 years. Over this period it has survived various boundary changes, and is currently one of the most forward-looking local government authorities in Australia. Their Global Arts Link project is unique in this country, and was opened over the Mayday weekend 1999. Ipswich is 38km west of the Queensland State Capital, Brisbane, to which we are linked by electric trains, buses and main highways. We are within easy reach of the Gold Coast, (south), Sunshine coast and Bribie Is (north) and Toowoomba and the west.
We were born in England (in Maidstone, Kent and Ashford, Middlesex), after we married we moved to Melksham
in Wiltshire, then spent three years working and living - on secondment - in Zambia, then back home to
England, then emigrated here in 1973. Since being here, we have only been out of the country once, to
New Zealand. We now call this incredible country of Australia, home.... : )
