Gary Crew - What's new

WHAT'S NEW:

'OLD RIDLEY' (Hodder Headline)

Gary first heard the tragic myth of Tithonus and Eos, upon which 'Old Ridley' is based, when he was in Year 5 at Nundah State School. He has always wanted to write his own story, based on that myth. 'Old Ridley' is the result. Gary asked Marc McBride to illustrate the book because they had worked together before on 'The Kraken' and Gary loved Marc's fantastic air-brushed illustrations. Check out Marc's illustrations for 'Deltora Quest'.

WHAT'S COMING OUT:

There are exciting new titles by Gary in the pipeline. These are three picture books for older readers in a series illustrated by Mark Wilson and published by Lothian Books. They are about 'recently' extinct animals and the first will be available in February, 2003.

The first is: 'I Saw Nothing: the Extinction of the Thylacine'.

The second, 'I Said Nothing: the Extinction of the Paradise Parrot'.

The third, 'I did Nothing: the Extinction of the Gastric Brooding Frog'.

All three books are based on fact, and told in the first person, from the point of view of a child or young person who last saw the animal alive.

I loved doing the research on this very sad, but very important topic. I hope that the books help young people understand the importance of our endangered species.
